Dance Instructors

Brittany McCafferty

Brittany McCafferty has been a dance educator for the past 18 years, teaching at Performing Arts of Spring Grove, Johnsburg Dance Academy and throughout McHenry county, holding classes and workshops for children of all ages. PASG was her home away from home. It was there she studied classical ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, and modern/contemporary. She also took many dance workshops from guest teachers to learn dance styles from around the globe. She was involved with the Johnsburg high school dance team and theatre, plus surrounding theatre camps. Over the years she's trained with the Milwaukee ballet school, Joffrey ballet, Bolshoi ballet, The Rockettes (through intensives), Ruth Paige Dance Center, The McNulty school of Irish Dance and Dance Center North. I'm ecstatic to share my love of teaching dance with you here at Firehouse!

Laura Bell

Lara Bell has been an accomplished performing artist for 16 years. She is a recent graduate from McHenry County College who holds an Associates in Arts degree with a concentration in music and theatre. A dancer, singer, musician, and now teacher, she began her classical dance training at a young age, and since then, has studied in all aspects of dance including: ballet, ballet point, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop, with many great dance studios. As well as dance, she discovered her love of musical theatre at an early age which resulted in many theatrical productions over the years. After performing and studying theatre herself, she became an assistant director to the JJHS Drama Club all throughout high school, and continued to take acting classes in college. She was recently seen in the Woodstock Opera House’s production of “Spamalot” this past April. Other favorite credits include Sandy - “Grease” (McHenry County College), “Les Misérables” (Spotlight Youth Theatre), Hope Harcourt - “Anything Goes” (McHenry County College), Hermia - A Midsummer Night’s Dream (TheatreVolt), and Cecily - The Importance of Being Earnest (Hidden Pearl Players). Lara loves both performing and directing, hence where her musical theatre class for children was born.
Lara doesn’t stop there. She is an emerging singer/songwriter and gig performer who has made a professional career traveling around the southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois area over the last 3 years. An aspiring country and folk artist, Lara is making her way in the music industry. She is a classically trained pianist who currently teaches voice and piano lessons to her students.
After all this training and performing, Lara has really found a love for teaching.
For the last 2.5 years, Miss Lara has taught 3-13 year olds at Johnsburg Dance Academy in the ballet/ballet pre pointe/musical theatre/and lyrical solo categories. Before becoming an instructor, Lara worked as a dance apprentice in high school and is glad to be creating and expanding her own program. She loves nothing more than seeing her students have fun while they learn about the art forms very close to her. Lara’s favorite choreographed piece to date would be her 2018 Pre-Pointe class, “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien”, and favorite production showcase “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. Lara is a fan of the classics and loves going back to the basics of teaching, all while incorporating romantic stylings.
